    La Croisée is growing….

    Eventually, we will be getting new neighbours in the west end, just north of Provigo. This is Phase 1a of the expansion of La Croisée.

    The following was outlined in the Project Analysis produced by the City of Gatineau Planning Advisory Committee received from our Councillor Mike Duggan on June 6th, 2019:

    “The proposal for Phase 1 of the La Croisée project aims to offer a variety of typologies of dwellings for a total of 236 dwellings distributed according to different typologies and building templates, ranging from multi-single detached dwelling houses. The proposed typologies are available in 35 dwellings single family homes, 34 semi-detached single family dwellings, 10 single-family dwellings and 157 multi-family dwellings (two isolated buildings of six dwellings, one isolated building of eight dwellings, one isolated building of 11 dwellings as well as nine buildings in twinned structure of 14 dwellings) (annexes 4 and 6).”

    A new high school is also going in the area and the timeline for the neighbourhood development will likely follow that construction, very soon.

    Communities collaborating.

    A special thanks to all the community residents who agree and support this ongoing shared initiative. The Emile‐Zola Community Association have joined the Champlain Park and La Croisée Community Associations to calm traffic in our neighbourhoods with “Slow Down” lawn signs.

  • La Croisée Easter Egg Hunt 2019

    It is unfortunate that the Easter Egg Hunt event was cancelled this year due to lack of volunteers, but it will be back next year. Families who signed up have been contacted. Remember, our venue is invaluable.

    Looking back, our community accomplished some incredible things in a very short time. None of this would have been possible without the neighbors who volunteered to make it all happen. They simply offered a little time (“generosity”), skills, or material support (“gifts”) in whatever way they could. That’s how it all came about and continues to grow because we are lucky enough to have good people.

    Explanations about the structure will follow a little later, but for now, it is important to remember that we are all neighbors and volunteers.

    LaCroisee-Volunteer

    Four more events are planned and supported this year:

    • Community Garage Sale – Saturday June 1st
    • Journée du vélo et des Fêtes des voisins – samedi le 8 juin
    • Épluchette de blé d’inde et AGA – samedi le 21 septembre
    • Noël communautaire – Samedi le 7 décembre

    Improved notices will be provided. In the meantime, if you see or hear a call for volunteers, your response is what could make the events possible and the community around us even better. Everyone is welcome

  • Parc La Croisée community storage project and support

    Prior to our park renovation in 2016, most neighbors agreed that our community storage shed will allow us to….

    • Centralize and increase the assets belonging to our community for events ;

    …and…

    • Facilitate the organization of our community events, meetings and other recreational initiatives;
    • Enhance our recreational capabilities, supporting health, cooperative friendship, community solidarity and our youth volunteers.
